Detailed Introduction

Aspen Dental is a prominent American dental support organization (DSO) that provides comprehensive business and administrative support to independently owned and operated Aspen Dental-branded dental practices across the United States. Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, Aspen Dental was founded in 1998 by Bob Fontana with the core mission of making quality dental care more accessible and affordable for a wider population. It operates as a subsidiary of The Aspen Group (TAG), a larger healthcare support organization that also includes other brands like ClearChoice Dental Implant Centers and WellNow Urgent Care. Mission and Philosophy: At its heart, Aspen Dental aims to break down the traditional barriers that prevent individuals from accessing dental care, such as affordability concerns, lack of transparency, and limited access to providers. The organization focuses on serving patients who may not have a regular relationship with traditional dental practices or face financial hurdles. Their philosophy centers on providing Patient-centered care in an honest, judgment-free environment, ensuring that both short-term and long-term dental needs are addressed. They emphasize listening to patients' concerns and creating a comfortable atmosphere. Services Offered: Aspen Dental-supported practices offer a wide array of general dentistry services, including: Preventive Care: Cleanings, exams, and Oral health education. Restorative Dentistry: fillings, crowns, bridges, and root canals. Oral Surgery: Tooth extractions, including wisdom teeth removal. Dentures and Implants: Comprehensive solutions for tooth replacement, with a strong focus on Dental implants. Cosmetic Dentistry: teeth whitening, veneers, and clear aligners (Motto Clear Aligners). Periodontal Disease Treatment. Many Aspen Dental practices are strategically located in "dental deserts," areas with a high need for dental providers, further reinforcing their commitment to accessibility. Growth and Reach: Since its founding, Aspen Dental has experienced significant growth. It has expanded to over 1,100 locations across 46 states, serving millions of patients annually. This expansion is often driven by a de novo strategy, meaning they build new offices from the ground up rather than acquiring existing practices. The company supports over 20,000 healthcare professionals and team members. Technology and Innovation: Aspen Dental-supported practices leverage advanced Dental technology to enhance diagnosis and treatment. This includes digital X-ray technology for improved imaging and reduced radiation exposure, and intraoral cameras for detailed examination and patient education. They also invest in training and development initiatives, such as the TAG Oral Care Center for Excellence, which provides advanced training in areas like implant therapy. They have also integrated virtual smile design technology to involve patients in their treatment planning. Community Involvement: A significant aspect of Aspen Dental's commitment to improving oral health is its community involvement. Through initiatives like the "Healthy Mouth Movement," launched in 2014, Aspen Dental dentists and teams provide free dental care and oral health education to underserved individuals, particularly veterans. They also participate in overseas outreach programs, sending teams of dental professionals to provide care in countries in need. These efforts underscore their dedication to making a broader impact beyond their clinics. Practice Ownership Program: Aspen Dental has a unique Practice Ownership Program (POP), celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2024. This program empowers dentists to become successful business owners by providing them with a structured path to practice ownership and support for non-clinical aspects of the business. This model has contributed significantly to the growth of the Aspen Dental network and offers career development opportunities for dentists.

I went in ending of December 2024 beginning of January 2025 for mouth pain, a couple of days before I went in I called and asked if they could do a payment plan as I had no insurance and got told they could do that. When I went there they got me on pretty quick did the exam and they found the problem they then pulled me into the financial advisor office and told me I couldn’t do a payment plan for the emergency procedure I needed, but they would be able to do it that day if I could find a way to pay for the procedure. So I stepped put and found away (my spouse payed for half and they had me take a loan out for the other half) so I went back in to pay so I could have it done same day, after I went back they told me they couldn’t do it the same day anymore and the only day they could was the one day I was unavailable.

But they could get me in at the end of the month. So I went and they did the procedure and I scheduled an appointment with the hygienist that did my procedure (right after) and she said she could do it may 1st so that’s when I made my appointment. I get a call a week before my second procedure saying they needed to reschedule because of staffing issues and the soonest the could is over a month out from my original appointment.

I do not recommended coming here and after this next appointment I will be going some place else.

The people were very kind and understanding, they listened intently ensuring you received the best care possible. I would recommend them as a dental provider to anyone. They were thorough and made sure you were clear and understood the treatment plan.

Came in for an appointment today, the tech and hygiene staff were all super nice and caring, I felt like I was in good hands, the doctor seemed maybe a little irritable, but it was the end of the day. I was quite disappointed with my treatment plan however, I came in for a tooth that needs to be extracted and they said I have to go to an oral surgeon which I cannot afford to do… I don’t feel I need an oral surgeon, it’s just a tooth I just want it gone, instead of receiving treatment, the tooth will now likely be continuing to get worse and worse, until… well idk what happens… but finding accessible dental care seems impossible, and unaffordable, they told me my care without even the extractions at the oral surgeon would be over 8,000 dollars for fillings and caps, I don’t even want that… I just want the bad tooth removed… why is it so hard? I will now likely be figuring out how to get it out myself, because we aren’t taking out a second mortgage over a tooth.

Even though I got there like 5 minutes late for my appointment, they still accepted me and treated me like a human! Like a person and not just the number! And they just showed compassion for me and my what I have left of teeth that are very bad. In the explained everything so well that I understood it which is always very helpful.

I do plan on coming back to get my dentures as soon as I get my finances set and ready. So thank you!
