UNE Oral Health Center

The UNE oral health Center is a state-of-the-art dental facility located on the University of New England's (UNE) Portland campus for the health sciences. It serves as the primary clinical training site for students enrolled in UNE's College of Dental Medicine, which is the only dental school in Maine and northern New England. The center's mission is to not only provide comprehensive dental care to the community but also to prepare the next generation of dentists and dental hygienists. The center offers a full spectrum of oral health services for patients of all ages. These services include general dentistry, such as cleanings, checkups, fillings, and X-rays, as well as more complex procedures like crowns, bridges, dentures, root canals, and extractions. It also provides an urgent care walk-in clinic for immediate dental needs. A key aspect of the UNE Oral Health Center is its interprofessional, team-based approach to care. Patients are treated by dental and dental hygiene students who work collaboratively under the direct supervision of experienced faculty dentists and staff. This model allows for a high level of patient care while providing students with extensive hands-on experience. Due to its educational mission, appointments may be longer than at a traditional private practice, but this also allows the center to offer its services at a lower fee.
