I recently completed my Invisalign treatment with Dr. Buss, and I couldn't be happier with the results. From my very first appointment, Dr. Buss took the time to explain the entire process, addressing all of my questions and concerns with patience and expertise. The entire staff at her office made me feel welcomed and comfortable, which put me at ease right away. Throughout treatment, I appreciated how attentive and professional the team were; they regularly monitored my progress and were always available to offer support when I needed it.

Not only did I achieve a straight smile, I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly I began to see results. Dr. Buss is a skilled and caring professional who truly prioritizes the well-being of her patients. I highly recommend her to anyone considering orthodontic treatment.

I came to Maine to welcome my second grandchild and developed an annoying toothache. My daughter left a message with her dentist Dr. Buss over the weekend and they promptly returned the call Monday morning. They got me in at 9:00 for an assessment and referred me to a specialist for a root canal on Tuesday .

Wednesday 9:00 am I was back in Dr Buss office for a beautiful crown! Everyone was super nice and very professional. Thank you everything.

As a soon to be M. D. , I cannot recommend Portland Smiles enough. Dr.

Buss is incredibly kind and skilled. She makes sure that you understand what’s happening before she does anything and takes extra care to make sure you’re as comfortable as possible while efficiently completing work. The secretaries helped me find an affordable insurance as well, and were amazing. The assistants and hygienists are also wonderful! From start to finish, this is a great practice and I recommend coming here for all of your dentistry needs!

I deeply regret ever trusting Portland Smiles and Dr. Buss with my dental care, and I would not recommend this practice to anyone. I hate writing bad reviews and look some people working here were nice… but I have to warn people. I began seeing Dr. Buss in 2020. At my first visit, I was told I needed six fillings this seemed excessive given my consistent oral hygiene, but I trusted their professional judgment. In hindsight, I now realize how alarming it was that they never showed me any X-rays or provided a thorough explanation for why these fillings were necessary. My current dentist not only reviews every X-ray with me but explains everything clearly something that was entirely absent at Portland Smiles. By 2022, I had finally saved enough to proceed with the recommended treatment. That summer, I spent what felt like every other week in their office getting all six fillings done. I thought. . "Ok that must be the end of this for a while". .

. I was wrong. Despite taking excellent care of my teeth, flossing twice a day, using a Waterpik, and brushing with an electric toothbrush, I was told I needed additional fillings at nearly every cleaning. This should have raised more red flags. Then the real problems began. Fillings they placed started to fall out or turn black. I developed persistent sensitivity and pain around several of them. One led to an excruciating abscess that required a root canal all on teeth that had been filled less than two years prior. In addition to the substandard dental work, Portland Smiles often performed non-standard tests that weren’t covered by insurance, presenting them as if they were routine or mandatory. They also repeatedly tried to upsell me on products like a night guard which, as my new dentist explained, I don't actually need. Leaving this practice was the best decision I’ve made for my dental health, but unfortunately, it came at a high cost. Nearly all of the fillings I received from Dr. Buss had to be replaced by a new, reputable dentist. One even required a crown.

It has been traumatic to endure the pain and to pay for restorative dental work twice, once for the original (and ultimately failed) treatment, and again to repair the damage. Reading other reviews, it’s clear I’m not the only one with this experience. I truly believe that some form of legal accountability needs to be pursued. I'm embarrassed that I ever trusted this practice, and I strongly urge others to seek dental care elsewhere. The emotional and financial toll of my experience at Portland Smiles is something I wouldn’t wish on anyone. It's important to note that I have been seeing a new dentist for a year now and other than replacing Dr. Buss' busted fillings, I have not needed anymore or have not been told I have any new cavities. This place is suss. . . stay away.
