About

About Dr Nelson I am a great choice to work with you !  Why should you benefit from my experience and knowledge instead of some other dentist? Thanks for asking! -I've always been inquisitive and learning/education is topmost in my professional life. some people spend their entire career just getting by...they have one years' experience for 20 to 30 years. I am constantly learning and I believe I can give you better care because I have constantly improved my skills and knowledge! I attended the American Dental Association meeting 2010, where I learned some great new techniques to work with Autistic children, use of lasers in treatment and more health issues affected by the oral system. People, their health and their well-being, are what have been my motivation to provide quality dental care in Kansas City for over 30 years. In our office; we Create and preserve SMILES: provide quality and valuable dental services to the people who are my friends and patients. ...which means you get quality care backed up by experience and integrity! Establish a REAL relationship! Create a DENTAL HOME for you and your family. Getting to know you and your family while we preserve and optimize your health will be an awesome opportunity for me and my staff! .....your benefit: a health team that knows and understands YOUR particular needs...you are not just another number   (hey that's called service) I am fortunate to come from a background of health care providers for several generations. My father and three of his brothers were physicians, my aunts were pharmacists and teachers.    I had always wanted to be a teacher and after receiving my Bachelor of Science degree (Chemistry/Biology) from The University of New Mexico, I started to work on my MS and PhD. I received a Master of Science Degree in Microbiologyand my Doctor of Dental Surgery Diploma from the University of Missouri at Kansas City School of Dentistry. Continuing dental education has been a lifelong pursuit for me and my office staff ever since graduation. Each year my staff and I take over fifty hours (50) of dental and medical education courses, primarily with the Kansas Dental Association / Fifth District Dental Society, The American Dental Association, Missouri Dental Association. I am active in my community, church and profession.  Living life fully is my mantra. Not being satisfied to just watch, I have dedicated my life to being on the court of life. The joy of living life fully and playing full-out has been my stand.     I and my staff constantly improve our knowledge to provide the latest techniques of quality dental care for our patients. I am now active in the Kansas Dental Association and Fifth District Dental Society of Kansas. For more than 20 years I was a member of the Missouri Dental Associaton and while  President of the Missouri Dental Association, I had the opportunity to work with the best dentists in the State of Missouri. As a leader of Missouri dentists, I was able to get improvements in access to care, improve information and leadership with medical doctors, alternative medicine and dental hygienists of Missouri.  I have been fortunate to have training in forensic dentistry and put those skills to work in identification of disaster victims-bringing closure to grieving families.   Using my journalism skills from high school and college,  I was the editor of the Greater Kansas City Dental Society Journal of the Midwestern Dentistfor 19 years after being president of that organization in 1989. I am now Editor Emeritus. Being a delegate to the American Dental Association has given me insight into the challenges facing patients and dentists nation-wide. I was fortunate to serve as Chairperson of the American Dental Association's    Council on Access, Prevention and Interprofessional Relations. I was elected to this council from among 100,000 dentists in the ADA. This council deals with seeing that Americans do not suffer from needless dental disease. Taking many hours of continuing education each year, I keep up with the changes fac

Data Transparency and Trust: Understanding this website Doctor Listings and Reviews

We know that finding the right doctor or provider is important to your health. That’s why we want to ensure you have confidence in the provider profiles and listings you see on this website. Our provider data is sourced from the physicians themselves as well as publicly available databases. Any doctor or provider who claims their profile by verifying themselves can update their information and provide additional data on their specialties, education, accepted insurances, conditions they treat, and procedures they perform.

All the physician and provider reviews on this website are provided by users just like you. Knowing these reviews provide insight into how other patients feel about a doctor, we maintain internal policies and protocols to ensure the quality and accuracy of all reviews. Providers are not able to remove or modify reviews on their own. Reviews can only be removed after an internal review by our customer service team.

We value your input and encourage you to reach out to our support team if you encounter any issues.
