Detailed Introduction

Tufts University School of Dental Medicine (TUSDM), founded in 1868 as Boston Dental College, is a globally recognized institution for dental education, research, and patient care. Located in the heart of Boston's Health Sciences Campus, the school is committed to preparing the next generation of oral health professionals through a diverse and interdisciplinary educational environment. TUSDM offers a Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) degree program, as well as postgraduate specialty programs, master's programs, and pre-dental programs. As part of its mission, the school operates a comprehensive dental clinic that provides high-quality, affordable dental care to the public. These clinics are a crucial component of the students' and residents' training, where they gain hands-on experience under the direct supervision of experienced faculty. The services offered cover a full spectrum of dental needs, from routine check-ups and cleanings to complex specialty procedures like oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthodontics, and prosthodontics. The school is known for its patient-centered approach, ensuring that all patients receive compassionate and thorough care. TUSDM also has a strong commitment to community service, including specialized clinics for patients with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The school's fees are often significantly lower than those of private practices, making quality dental care accessible to a broader community.

Don't go. I had a bridge come out 4 years ago. My local DDS said to try Tufts if you had flexibility. I work in Boston so why not. Big Mistake, In June 2025 it will start year 4. My 3rd student graduates in May 25 ( all the students where nice). Was suppose to be done in April 2024 but student #2 had already passed the boards and wrote me off, she didn"t make my new crowns in March 24 and cancelled our late April appt when i was suppose to receive the new bridge. Had to start over in June 2024 and here it is April 2025 and im suppose to have everything finish before she move to CA in early May.

3 bone grafs, because the 12th floor screwed up the first two , not enough graf put in twice. My jaw was exposed 3 times under novacaine only for almost 3 hours each time. The temps have come out 15+ times, it got to the point i call my dds . I had to tell them to use durabond not temp bond. My teeth came out at work , weddings , vacation. I have eaten with a knife & fork for 4 years , oh to bite into a hambuger. They broke the 1st bridge taking a impression for the final second, didnt tell me until i asked , so its not screwed in anymore. They cemented it in, ive had such luck with them cementing it in.

Students are nice, most faculty are pompous arogant asses trying to impress the students. And a few younger faculty should layoff the cologne, you know who you are. Just a real disappointing experience, I had/have time why not help the next generation learn there craft, my father was teacher/principal. I would never recommend this process at Tufts to anyone. I have some much more but it really doesn't matter because they don't care. And don't look for help at the emergency walk in clinic on a Friday to have your temp bridge put back in for a wedding on Saturday, " there really not there for that type of service".

Don't go here if you need a lot of work done I've been suffering with pain in my mouth from extractions and the dentures they made are uneven and look bad. I contacted the administrator and they won't do anything so not only am I contacting the state dental association Im also contacting some attorneys . I have all the messages from the student talking me into getting all this work done saying they were going to be a perfect fit and it was lies just to get me to get it done.

I never had pain before here now I live with constant throbbing in my mouth along with I cant eat solid food . Don't trust them!

Very very good experience. I have dental ptsd. And while they can't remove my involuntary reactions, they were reassuring and understanding. No one made me embarrassed about the state of my teeth. Their only concern was treatment and reassurance.

I did teeth cleaning and a filling there. Student dentists did 90% of the work, and faculty dentists checked every step plus some minor work (maybe most of their work is behind the scene), so the quality was solid. However, each appointment can be very long.

A tooth filling could take around 2 hours. I also heard that Tufts charges a lower cost than some private practice. Anyway, if you have plenty amount of time and want some quality dental work, go there!
