Treehouse Pediatric dentistry put silver diamine fluoride on my child’s teeth without informing me that it permanently stains teeth black. They handed me the paperwork to read and sign but had already applied the sdf to his teeth by the time I had read the side effects on the second page. I tried to intervene but it was too late. I am so disappointed and it seems like they think they know what’s best for my child and differing views or concerns are inconsequential.

I would think permanently staining a child’s adult teeth calls for a conversation. UPDATE: they’ve reached out and explained that the stain is easily fixed and have agreed that it should have been explained better. Other than this one incident they have been great and deserve the good reviews.

My 3 year old son was very nervous about visiting the dentist but our hygienist Savannah was so gentle and sweet with him and made him feel much more comfortable. He was all smiles by the time we left! Thanks for a great visit!

We had a very disappointing and life-altering heartbreaking experience in this office. These dentists do not think that having a parent well informed about the treatment their child is going through is not important to them. The result is a metallic crown is highly visible whenever my child smiles or talks, which has caused significant distress. Had we been informed of the metallic appearance of the crown, we would have opted for a tooth-colored alternative to better preserve our child’s natural appearance and confidence. They are not willing to help us.

They are very dismissive. Please parents, know that the metalic crown means it’s silver - this is something they do not tell you and they make that decision on your behalf fully knowing that the presumption of having a tooth-colored crown is wrong. Or better advice: go to a different office. This is not a good place.

We had a deeply disappointing experience with this dental practice. After encountering significant issues with my child's dental procedure, we communicated our concerns and even filed a formal complaint with the Massachusetts Dental Board. Unfortunately, instead of addressing the matter constructively, the practice chose to terminate both of my children as patients simply because we raised concerns about their painful mistakes. Our primary issues included: Lack of informed consent: We were not informed about the aesthetic characteristics of the crown before the procedure. Unexpected outcome: The crown placed had a metallic (silver) appearance, which was highly visible when my child smiled or spoke—this was not what we expected or agreed upon.

Failure in transparency: Had all options and associated costs been properly disclosed, this situation could have been avoided. Healthcare professionals have a responsibility to provide full disclosure regarding both the functional and aesthetic outcomes of procedures. Unfortunately, this practice does not seem to follow that principle. Informed consent is a fundamental aspect of ethical medical care, and withholding critical details undermines a patient’s ability to make the best decision for their child. I strongly urge parents to ask every question—both big and small—before committing to any procedure here.

Ensure you have absolute clarity about what will be done, the expected results, and any alternative options available. Our experience was frustrating and disappointing, and we hope others can avoid the same outcome.
