Dentist in Fort Myers, FL
When I was trying to make the appointment and I have a screenshot of it, they had me on hold for 30 minutes and never picked up again. Hung up finally called them back and they were sorry. They are hard to work with and hard to understand if u don’t speak Spanish. I went to them quite a few years ago and didn’t like them then and changed.
Through a mistake with Humana. I wound up there again. Absolute nightmare.

If I could give zero stars, I would. This dental office has consistently given me issues with billing my insurance—claiming I owed $350+ for routine cleanings and X-rays. At my latest visit, they suddenly told me I needed five fillings and quoted me over $3,000 (even though I've never had a cavity in my life). They claimed my insurance would only cover $1,000, and that I owed $375 on the spot for the cleaning and X-rays. When I looked at my chart, I realized they had completely incorrect insurance information on file.
I refused to pay until I could verify. They insisted they'd spoken to my insurer "multiple times. " So I called my insurance company directly—turns out the last contact from this office was in 2022. After I forced a live call between the office and my insurance, the truth came out: they had never called, were using the wrong insurance codes, and admitted there was a “system error” causing misbilling. They even said they needed to open a technical ticket because of a computer issue.
They apologized and offered to update everything and reschedule, but I told them I’d never be returning. If they can’t even manage to input the correct insurance, how can I trust anything they say about my health? I worry for the hundreds of patients being overbilled or misdiagnosed. My last dental exam (July 2024) was completely normal, and now I supposedly have thousands of dollars in dental work? Avoid this office at all costs.

Much like several other reviews, I wish I would not have to check any stars. Long read below so to save you some time - DON'T DO IT. I had not seen a dentist in 2 years. Made an appointment for Xrays bit surprised when they provides 3 quotes for recommended work. Each for over $20,000 (my portion approx. $5000). Each included Deep Scale cleaning. The more expensive quotes included more crowns and less fillings. Both the dentist and office manager strongly recommended the Deep Scale cleaning even though I told them I thought it was not necessary. I contacted my insurance company and they said I could ask TownCare Dental to send their xrays and findings to a different dentist to get a 2nd opinion. I’m a snowbird and wanted to get the priority work done (up to my cap of $2500) before I went back north so I called TownCare. I was not able to explain what I wanted to the receptionist due to her struggling with English. I finally got the office manager on the phone and she scheduled an appointment for 3 fillings (without consulting the dentist). I showed up for my 10 am appointment and was soon in the dentist chair but for some reason, the dentist did not appear until 30 minutes later and she thought she was doing 1 filling and 2 crowns. She explained the reasons for why the crowns were a better option and I agreed but then I wanted a quote.
So now the work was delayed until 11:15. By noon, the filling was done and the crowns had been started. We took a break so I could hit the restroom. When I came back, the dentist and DA were not in the room. I didn’t see either until the DA popped in at 12:45 to let me know the dentist would be back IN THE OFFICE soon. No one told me the dentist needed to take an HOUR BREAK in the middle of my appointment. I would have left but I knew I would have to comeback to get the temp crowns put in. So work starts again at 1:15. Then another break because they only have 2 scanners and 1 was not working and they needed the scanner for making an impression for the crowns. I did not leave until 4:15. A 6 hour appointment for 1 filling and 2 crowns, Next appointment to put in the crowns took 3 hours because the crowns did not fit and they kept trying to make them fit. While appreciate their effort, they need to keep in mind some people do not have all day to sit in a dentist chair (I’m retired) and that they have other patients (or maybe they didn’t). If the crowns weren’t correct, make new impressions, send the bad ones back and let me go home. That appointment should not have taken longer than an hour. I checked reviews before and didn’t see much that concerned me.
I should have done a better job of that. After reviewing several reviews, I agree that: • This dental provider is in it for the $$$$. o They wanted to do over $20,000 of work on a person whose main source of income is social security. They stated they take credit cards or I could apply for a loan. Oh great, so now the 5 – 6 thousand out of pocket will be more like $7000 due to interest. o While I was in the chair for over 6 hours that one day, I heard the dentist try to push more work for people who only wanted specific work done (including Deep Scale cleaning). • Their equipment does appear to be antiquated. o Scanner not working. o Xray machine not working so had to do it the old fashioned way – putting xray film in my mouth. Another review mentioned that it seemed they take more xrays than typical. That happened to me as well. I wouldn’t go back to TownCare if they offered to do the rest of the work for free.

Each time I go I am more satisfied with Dr. Burato and her team. I am seeing some new faces, but they are very friendly and accommodating. The young lady that was there at the reception today was a new face. Clearly she is Hispanic and working on her English but very friendly. I am still working on my Spanish as I was married to a Colombian for 34 years before he passed in 2020. Great service all the way around. 5 stars again ***** 5/5/25.
Yoli the officer manager is amazing. Dr. Basulto and her entire staff have been the epitome of professionals each and every time I am there. More 5 ***** review. The entire staff is always smiling, kind and helpful. They go out of their way to accommodate their clients.
