So I just tried to call today to set an appointment to get a consultation. The receptionist insisted on not giving me a date because I had mentioned I might be having it covered through insurance. When I asked if they accept visa so I can just pay for my session outright she went and told me no, I cannot set an appointment without providing my insurance member ID number. This is the first time I ever encountered someone refusing to schedule me an appointment simply because she was worried about my insurance.
I told her I can pay cash or visa I just want to get this root canal taken care of…She then proceeded to tell me that the root canal procedure costs $1449 as if I am not able to afford to pay it outright. This was a horrible experience as i experienced some type of prejudice from this receptionist. She told me a price without even being seen by a doctor at this practice. I will most likely contact someone at BBB after this experience.
Horrible experience. When asked to speak to a manager or the doctor, I was told this was doctors stephens policy and nothing can be done despite me telling her I wanted to schedule to see the doctor and pay cash.

Where do I begin!? This doctor has no idea what he is talking about. I need a re treatment done of a root canal and all he did was a lousy X-ray and then told me it’s TMJ pain and to wear a night guard. TMJ pain is in the JAW not the tooth. After waiting 2 months for an appointment this is what I was told.
He was uninterested, extremely unprofessional and made me uncomfortable. Lastly when I asked if a mouth guard doesn’t help should I return, he goes “nope, it’s TMJ pain and I can’t do anything”. Save your time guys and go to a different orthodontist!

Dr Smiley is amazing. He's patient, understanding, kind and thorough. He explains everything to you in a way you can understand and makes sure you are comfortable before proceeding with your root canal. His office assistants are AMAZING and work hard to make sure your procedure is covered. I can't thank them enough for how great they were. His dental assistant is also great.
She's very sweet and efficient. Honestly the most discomfort you will probably feel are the numbing shots but even those weren't terrible. I felt absolutely nothing during my root canal thanks to Dr Smiley (and I have very sensitive teeth). His Elmwood Park location is cozy and clean and his exam rooms have more space for he and his assistant to work than the dental offices I'm used to. I highly recommend Dr Smiley and his team because they make what most people think is a scary experience quick, painless & easy.

Terrible Experience - Avoid This Dentist at All Costs I had the worst experience at this clinic today. First, they rescheduled my appointment on the day of, which was highly unprofessional. When I arrived at the rescheduled time, 8 minutes past the scheduled hour, the clinic doors were locked. I knocked and called repeatedly before someone finally opened the door, only to be met with rude and dismissive staff. The receptionist rudely told me I was late, despite the standard 15-minute window for appointments.
I calmly explained this, but the hostility was unreal. When I finally saw the doctor, I asked a reasonable question about whether they had the right to lock the door on patients. Instead of answering professionally, the doctor rudely stated, “Yes, if you’re late! You’re lucky we’re seeing you!” I reminded him that I wasn’t late and that it was my right as a patient to be treated respectfully, but he doubled down, saying, “We set the rules, not you. ” At that point, I decided I couldn’t trust someone so unprofessional and disrespectful with my care. I walked out without receiving any treatment.
This clinic has no respect, no empathy, and no professionalism. They shouldn’t be in the medical field. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Save yourself the stress and go somewhere else!
