Medgaus Dental Group was a prominent dental practice based in Monroeville, Pennsylvania, with an additional office in Castle Shannon. Founded in 1973 by Dr. Carl Medgaus, the practice built a reputation for providing comprehensive dental care over several decades. Dr. Medgaus, born in 1948, was a highly experienced and dedicated dentist with a career spanning over 51 years. He received his Bachelor's degree in Dentistry from the University of Pittsburgh in 1973 and continually pursued advanced education in the field, particularly in implantology. He taught at the Pitt Dental School and was the Director of the General Practice Residency Program at Montefiore Hospital. The Medgaus Dental Group offered a wide range of services, including General Dentistry, Preventative Care, composite fillings, dentures, root canals, and treatment for gum disease. However, the practice was particularly renowned for its expertise in Dental Implants. Dr. Medgaus was a pioneer in this area, having placed over 5,000 implants and completed over 600 full-arch cases with an impressive 99.3% success rate. A significant innovation associated with Medgaus Dental Group was the development of Stabili-Teeth™. This revolutionary full-arch dental procedure, conceived and developed by Dr. Carl Medgaus, aimed to provide an affordable, stable, and immediate solution for patients with multiple missing teeth or ill-fitting dentures. The technique uniquely combined narrow diameter implants (NDIs) and conventional-sized dental implants to support a full set of teeth, offering a cost-effective alternative to traditional full-arch implant solutions. The practice emphasized a patient-centric approach, striving for a comfortable and comprehensive experience. They utilized advanced technology and aimed to provide a wide array of treatments in-house, ensuring convenience and continuity of care for their patients. Tragically, Medgaus Dental Group ceased operations following the unexpected passing of its founder, Dr. Carl Medgaus, on January 15, 2025, at the age of 76. His death left many patients in a difficult situation, particularly those who had paid for uncompleted treatments, leading to public discussions about reimbursements and the winding down of the practice's affairs.
