If there was such a thing as an emperor of dentists, Dr. Slaman would be it. It there was an oscar for dentists, he would have to rent a warehouse to keep his awards. If I lived in Alaska, I would fly down here to see Dr. Slaman. THE BEST dentist in Miami, and his staff are equally as wonderful. Thank you for over 20 years of being your patient.

My wife called to let them know she had broken a tooth. Most dentists would consider that an emergency and get you in right away. Instead the lady we spoke with over the phone said they had no openings and that she would call if one became available but never called. We waited over 2 months to get an appointment. The day of our appointment It was pointed out that there was some gum decease and I would need follow up treatment. The hygienist spoke to me as if I did not know how to brush my teeth. She kept telling me that I needed to brush as if I wasn’t brushing my teeth at all yet I do so atleast twice a day. Not even an electric toothbrush which I use will remove plaque regardless how much or how hard you brush once the plaque has formed. It has to be scraped with the pick and removed by the dentist during the cleaning.

I felt condescended in the manner she spoke to me about it. On top of that I was squirming in my seat at how aggressive she was with the pick digging all over my mouth because it hurt so bad. I had to even tell her to please be more gentle. Two of my coworkers said they were also told exactly the same thing about their gums when they went to the office. Yet they made me feel rare. My coworkers even said that the people at the dentist office are not dumb and are well aware that a tooth brush will not remove plaque and it’s why people go get cleanings at the office one or two times a year. Yet they spoke to me as if it was that i was simply not brushing my teeth at all and plaque had formed causing my gums to recede. Lol. There are many things that can cause gums to recede including over time with age or brushing too hard in addition to not flossing daily.

Regardless i understood the issue and was informed of the need to have follow up treatment for my gums but then the soonest appointment was another 3 months waiting time. My gums are so bad according to them but yet the next appointment they say they have available is 3 months away? Who wants to wait 3 months between appointments to be seen by a dentist? My wife needed a lot of work done but chose not to get started with a dentist that would only get her in 3-4 months at a time to do the work necessary. We went to another dentist that same day and we’re scheduled for the next day. Follow ups will be within days not months. Tried to bring the long wait in between appointments to Dentist James Slaman’s attention and was basically told the appointments are what they are and he saw nothing wrong with the fact his patients had to wait months in between follow ups. So if you need work done on your teeth that will require follow up work and you do not want to wait 3 to 4 months in between go somewhere else because they do not even care if you call to be seen sooner because you have a broken tooth. That alone should tell them the way they are operating is not best serving their patients.
