Grove Smiles Dentistry is a long-standing dental clinic located at 2685 Bird Ave, Miami, FL, that has been serving the Coconut Grove community for over 40 years. It operates as a team-based practice, led by Dr. Stephen Parr and Dr. Rita Dargham, and is supported by a dedicated staff of hygienists and certified dental assistants. The clinic's philosophy is rooted in a holistic health model, treating patients as "whole persons" rather than just focusing on their teeth. They believe that a person's oral health is intrinsically linked to their physical, psychological, and spiritual well-being. The clinic offers a comprehensive suite of dental services for the entire family, from children to seniors. This includes preventive care like routine cleanings, fluoride treatments, and sealants, as well as cosmetic dentistry such as teeth whitening, porcelain veneers, and Invisalign®. For restorative and reconstructive needs, they provide services like fillings, dental implants, crowns, bridges, and dentures. The team is also certified in conscious sedation techniques (nitrous oxide) to help anxious patients feel more comfortable and relaxed during procedures. A core tenet of Grove Smiles Dentistry's approach is patient education and prevention. They aim to empower patients to take responsibility for their own oral health, with the ultimate goal of minimizing the need for extensive future treatments and making dental emergencies a "thing of the past." They pride themselves on a professional yet casual environment and a team that is welcoming and compassionate, with many staff members having been with the practice for decades, fostering long-term relationships with their patients.

Truly shocked that this place only has positive reviews. When I got there, it wasn’t my vibe which is fine. It’s a very eclectic place with alternative type of artwork and chuchkies all over. I prefer simpler settings for a dentists office that suggest a more sterile environment…. But a matter of scenic presence would not have compelled me to write a review. Given I was a bit uncomfortable and knowing I wouldn’t make this my dentistry of preference, I asked the woman attending me if we could skip the x rays and get to the cleaning. She said the x rays are an obligatory part of the process in order to get my cleaning. Ok, fine. (The machine they used for the X-rays seemed outdated, matching the chaotic and rugged ambiance, but again this isn’t something that would’ve convinced me to write a review).

I then had to wait for the dentist to conduct the exam. She could tell I was uncomfortable and asked why, to which I responded that it just wasn’t my type of dentists office but I just wanted to get my cleaning done. She repeated what the other woman said- they had to do a full exam and take me on as a patient to do the cleaning. Ok. I’m giving this place 2 stars and not 1 because the dentist was kind and took her time explaining things. After the full exam, I had to wait for another woman to come and take pictures of my teeth with an iPad. Again, strange choices in technology, but sure. After taking pictures, this 3rd woman asks me if I want to schedule my cleaning for tomorrow. Excuse me? I have mentioned to every single person I’ve interacted with that all I wanted was a cleaning.

At no point in the hour I was there did anyone tell me I was not getting a cleaning. Had I been informed this wasn’t going to be part of my visit, I wouldn’t have minded taking a cancellation fee and leaving. Instead, they did a full exam that they explained was obligatory. Has anyone heard of a dentist appointment where you don’t get a cleaning???? When I was filling out the forms at the beginning of my visit, the form outlined that the new patient exam was $150. The receptionist told me my total was $345. Why, I asked? Because I got the x rays WHICH I ASKED THEM NOT TO DO AND WAS TOLD IT WAS AN OBLIGATORY STEP TO GET MY CLEANING. Unbelievable waste of an hour of my life. Gd help me, if when I go to a different dentist to get my cleaning, my insurance doesn’t fully cover it because they’re counting this as the bi-annual visit I’m covered for, I’ll absolutely lose my mind.

Today I had a great dental cleaning with Maria! She’s not only thorough and professional, but also always very kind. Every time I’ve seen her over the years my teeth and gums feel very cared for. I would recommend anyone to see her for a thorough and satisfying cleaning!

This is hands down the best dentist in Miami. The entire staff is amazing!! They are extremely reliable and the best at what they do. Diana at the front office is very kind and very helpful.

I have been going here for 20 years + and they have been consistent at doing a 10/10 job the entire time! Maria the hygienist and Dr. Dargham along with the entire staff are like family at this point and truly talented and make going to the dentist an enjoyable experience! I highly recommend!
