A thorough and intentional dentist, using modern tools and methods. The whole family goes there now and we've all had good experiences. My partner and I each moved over from other practices and have seen improvement in our teeth since doing so. Personally, I was a bit worried about changing dentists but her professionalism was incredibly reassuring and made the process painless.

Note that it is a small office and staff, so don't expect to be waited on hand and foot. At the same time, over the last 15+ years we've had a few emergencies and Dr Al-Aswad was always able and eager to help, even on weekends and evenings.

I was a patient at Dr. Al-Aswad's practice for around 5 years, and was always pleased with the quality of her care. However, the cancellation policy for this office is labyrinthine and unreasonable -- and they take advantage of this to charge their patients exorbitant fees. My last appointment was scheduled for a Tuesday, and on the Saturday beforehand, my childcare canceled. I knew that there was a 48 hour cancellation policy. I called the office on Saturday -- no answer.

The answering machine informed me that the office does not accept cancellations via voicemail, but that I can text a specific number on Mondays if I need to cancel an appointment. I called the office on Sunday -- no answer. I texted the number informing them of my situation -- no answer. I called the office on Monday -- no answer. I texted the number again -- no answer. On Tuesday, I called the office to confirm that I would not be coming in for my appointment, and was told I would be charged a $150 "late cancellation" fee.

I described the many ways in which I had tried to cancel the appointment earlier, and asked the receptionist if there was anything I could have done differently to avoid the fee. She said no. I have since switched to a practice with a less asinine cancellation policy.

They were very professional, knowledgeable, and respectful. I haven't been to a dentist in years who knew the work on my mouth already. She found many things that must be done. The office was very pleasing especially for children. I highly recommend her.

Been bringing my kids to Dr. Aswad since they cut their first teeth so about eight years or so now and every visit has been smooth. She is gentle, truly great with kids, and the office staff keeps everything running on time. Parking is easy right in front or along the side streets, and our insurance claims have never hit a snag.

I have seen people upset about the $150 no-show fee, but if you think about the overhead in Somerville, an unused slot really does hurt the practice; just set a reminder and everyone wins. Only good things to say here, Allahumma bareek. We will stay patients as long as we are in Boston, inshaAllah.
