Dr. Alice Urbankova is a graduate of Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. She began her full-time academic career at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine, in the Division of Operative Dentistry. Besides teaching students operative dentistry using traditional methods, she became engaged in teaching through simulation technology. She devised and implemented a virtual simulation teaching method in the pre-clinical curriculum to wide acclaim. Her research and expertise in simulation technology led to a consultancy with Image Navigation Ltd., and she trained and calibrated faculty at eight North American Dental Schools, and was a trainer and instructor at forty dental schools throughout North America and Europe in simulation teaching methods. She also became a consultant to IDEA Inc. and MOOG Inc., using both haptic technology for simulation learning and skill assessment. She was recruited to Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine where she revised and implemented a new operative dentistry curriculum, with virtual reality simulation at its core. She became Division Director of Operative Dentistry, and besides teaching, clinical instruction, developing lectures and operative curriculum syllabi, she conducted numerous research projects validating simulation technology in dental education. She also became involved in research projects in areas on disease prevention and relationships to systemic health such as diabetes. She has lectured internationally, and is frequently an invited lecturer at international conferences such as the Association for Dental Education in Europe. She now holds an appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor at New York University College of Dentistry. \n\nTelemedicine visits are being offered to new and existing patients for various reasons such as tooth pain & gum disease. Dr. Urbankova's expertise can help navigate patients towards solutions without the requirement of an in-office visit.

My profession is my life. I love what I do: I love helping people smile and making a lasting difference in their life. Nothing is better than when a patient comes and thanks me for changing their life for the better. Whether I've improved their smile, restored function so they can chew comfortably, or relieved their pain, their life is now happier. I love helping people get their smiles back. It's rewarding to see a person smiling after a root canal. They may have been crying from pain an hour ago and now that pain is gone. It's just as rewarding to see the difference cosmetic work does for a person's confidence. I am honored to be able to help people in this way. I've been practicing dentistry since 2001. My dad was my biggest inspiration. He was a dentist back in Moldova. As a child, I remember walking through the streets with him. Random people would come up and thank him for getting them out of pain. As far back as I can remember, I wanted to be a dentist. I can't think of anything more fulfilling!

Whitney Mostafiz, D.M.D., M.S. is a Board-Certified Orthodontist in NYC on the Upper East Side and Lower Manhattan. She is an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthodontics at NYU. A Long Island native, Dr. Whitney studied Human Biology and Visual Arts at Brown University, graduating with honors. She completed dental school at Harvard School of Dental Medicine also with honors. During her training, Dr. Whitney was fortunate to travel to Sydney, Australia twice to perform and publish award-winning research on obstructive sleep apnea and oral appliance therapy. Her passion to educate has led to presentations at conferences, study clubs, as well as on the radio. Dr. Whitney completed her orthodontics residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where her research led to a Masters degree. She has treated both children and adults with traditional braces and aligner therapy. In addition, Dr. Whitney has experience with combined surgical treatment and seeing patients with craniofacial abnormalities. Dr. Whitney is also an active leader in the dental community. She was chosen to participate in the 2015 American Association of Orthodontists Emerging Leaders Conference. She was also selected for the Charley Schulz Competition and presented her research in May 2015. Dr. Whitney is currently president of the New York chapter of the Alpha Omega International Dental Fraternity. She is also on the 2017 steering committee for NYC Give Kids a Smile. She is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists, Northeastern Society of Orthodontists, New York County Dental Society, and the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. Dr. Whitney keeps an active and healthy lifestyle that she encourages with her patients. She loves to practice yoga and run, and even finished the Chicago Marathon in 2013. She enjoys drawing, painting, photography, and graphic design. Dr. Whitney looks forward to helping you smile on the inside & outside.
