Detailed Introduction

The Yale-New Haven Hospital's Pediatric Dental Center is a specialized clinic providing comprehensive and urgent dental care for children up to 16 years of age. A key focus is on treating children with special health care needs or severe disabilities, who may find it difficult to receive care in a conventional dental office. As part of the larger Yale New Haven Health system and the Yale New Haven Children's Hospital, the center has access to a multidisciplinary team of specialists, including pediatric dentists, oral and maxillofacial surgeons, orthodontists, endodontists, and periodontists. The center's services are extensive and include preventive care (exams, cleanings, fluoride treatments, and sealants), restorative care (fillings and crowns), and emergency dental services. The clinic is also equipped with modern facilities and advanced diagnostic tools, such as low-dose digital X-rays and cone beam imaging. In addition to its in-clinic services, the Pediatric Dental Center runs a mobile dental unit. This specially outfitted RV provides preventive dental care and education to young children, particularly those enrolled in Head Start programs in New Haven and surrounding communities. This outreach program, supported by grants, is a crucial part of the center's mission to improve oral health for at-risk children. The center is also a teaching facility, with a resident-driven program accredited by the American Dental Association's Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).

Avoid at all costs. Like any. They mixed up my thousand dollar orthotic with someone else’s, then refused to replace the device (which had been designed for and inside someone else’s mouth) until patient relations got involved. One staff recommended I go to another dental office as it could be faster.

I wish I had taken her advice. I’ve seen one particular staff member (late 40s, dark curly hair, Hispanic), blatantly lie to patients, ignore patients, and disregard concerns. I listened as she lied and told a patient over the phone that the office was packed and there wasn’t a seat left in the waiting room - from the waiting room where I was the only one present. She was more concerned about her spilled coffee than she was with getting patients checked in.

And learn from my mistake: if she incorrectly says something about your file/case, be cautious bc if you try to correct her she’ll just cut you off and say, ‘I wasn’t talking to you. ’ If you want decent dental care, yale providers will suffice. But the office staff at long wharfs adult dental office are so bad that it will eventually interfere with you getting dental care.

Would give 0 stars if I could! Made an appointment with them 10 months ago with no other options for sedative pediatric dental work in the state. The absolute worst almost non communication with this office. Office staff has no idea what they are doing.

You only seem to get automated calls and multiple confirmation calls after confirming then they say you didn’t confirm your appointment?!?!? They tell you one thing and each person tells you something different, HORRIBLE communication!!! Got the pre-op physical completed and fax by our pediatrician and they say they never received it and physically brought it to them as well prior to the appointment. Changed our son’s appointment two days before to a later time we tried to call multiple times with different questions and got answering machines and no return phone calls at all. Drive over an hour with a very starving NPO 7 year old to his appointment and they almost laugh at my husband as they had cancelled his appointment and never said anything to us.

They said because they didn’t get the pre op physical and we didn’t confirm the appointment. All that had been done many days before and we hadn’t had any communication with them for the previous few days prior to the procedure even with our phone calls and messages they never returned!!! They won’t reschedule anytime soon and were so rude and inappropriate to my husband in front of our 7 year old son! How can you call yourselves professionals never mind pediatric health professionals! This is coming from two pediatric health professionals a nurse and a respiratory therapist that work in pediatrics and have never seen such horrible care and patient service! UNACCEPTABLE!!!!

The dentist aren't terrible it's the front desk and scheduling. My daughter has been going for years and it takes a year to have an appointment. I called to make one and they said the only opening they have is 8 months out! This is not the first or second time. It's super frustrating. Don't ever have to call. I've called so many times over the years no one ever answers no one ever returns calls.

I've had to go down to the office to handle all the business that should just be a phone call. Finally decided to switch dentist and I can't get them to send my daughter's information. Had to go down in person weeks ago and still nothing. For them to have Yale infront of their name they have to do better.
