I had a truly traumatizing experience with this pediatric dentist specializing in tongue ties, and I feel compelled to share my story to save other parents from what I endured as a first-time mom. When my newborn daughter struggled with latching and feeding, I was hopeful this doctor could help us address a "slight" tongue tie diagnosed by another provider. Instead, I left with a deeper sense of regret and heartbreak. Unprofessional Examination Process: My two-week-old baby was placed in a car seat (this should have been my first red flag) for the exam and procedure—an inappropriate and restrictive position for such a delicate operation. I was not allowed to stay in the room during the procedure, which only added to my distress. Overuse of Laser Technology: This office used a laser tool to cut and cauterize my baby’s tongue, lip, and even cheek ties. I’ve since learned cheek ties are rarely a source of feeding issues and are often unnecessarily cut as a way to increase charges.

I was also told the doctor would examine the baby and then discuss treatment. It was not discussed until after that I learned the cheek ties had been cut, The use of the laser was not only excessive but also led to severe discomfort and complications for my baby. Incompetence and Lack of Follow-Up: Post-procedure, my baby completely lost the ability to suck on both breast and bottle, requiring extensive therapy to retrain her mouth. Multiple second opinions revealed the cut under her tongue was incomplete, and the cuts done to her cheeks were unnecessary. Despite the severity of the situation, this dentist nor his office ever followed up to check on my daughter’s healing. Profit Over Care: This provider appears to prioritize financial gain over patient well-being. It was heartbreaking to learn from a trusted lactation specialist that this office is notorious for performing cuts on virtually every baby they consult, regardless of necessity.

This experience caused significant physical and emotional distress for both my daughter and me. I urge parents to seek multiple opinions before pursuing any tongue or lip tie procedures and to research their provider thoroughly. While many babies can benefit from this procedure - a truly caring specialist will prioritize your child’s well-being, not their bottom line. If you’re a vulnerable parent looking for help with feeding challenges, avoid this practice at all costs.
