I called to schedule a wisdom tooth extraction a week ago for an appointment at 1:00 PM on Tuesday. After driving 40 minutes from North Chicago and getting into the chair, the doctor told me that my procedure would take longer and that he had other appointments afterwards, so he asked me to come back at 5:00 PM. I drove 40 minutes back home, but due to traffic, I was 10 minutes late when I returned at 5:00 PM. The receptionist told me they called me, but I didn’t pick up, and they close at 6:00 PM. She had a very poor attitude, showing no apology for the sudden rescheduling.

I waited for the doctor for 20 minutes, and he finally showed up, meaning he started my procedure at 5:30 PM when they close at 6:00 PM. When he and the nurse arrived, he said, "The sooner we finish, the sooner we can get off work. " My wisdom tooth needed surgical extraction, and I was already very nervous. Their casual and joking attitude made me really uncomfortable. ‼️‼️ The WORST part is that the anesthesia wasn’t even applied correctly! It didn’t numb the extraction site.

The pain during the extraction was unbearable; it was excruciating, and I couldn't stop crying. I chose this place because the online reviews said they had excellent skills, but because the anesthesia was misplaced, I was in extreme pain. It was truly a terrible experience 😭😭😭

Love love love this family dental practice, especially their beautiful new office! We felt lost in the cracks (literally as fillings were breaking in less than a year!) at our old larger practice; they became too commercial, big and unpersonable. Dr Lin's office is the perfect size and local vs a franchise. Hours are great. Never have to wait months to be seen and appointments arent rushed.

The front staff are all very courteous, Connie is so sweet and great with insurance/pricing questions! My hygienist, Alyssa, was very thorough and careful (I usually hate cleanings, they can be painful when you have sensitive gums), and doctor Shawn Lin is very meticulous with his work and kind. We have had fillings, crowns, cleanings and nightguards made here. I highly recommend Dr Shawn Lin for any dental work.

I cannot give this office or this dentist enough praise. It's so rare nowadays to find any service providers that are good at their jobs and also comfortable to be around but this is one of those places. They make every procedure a lot easier than you'd expect and the atmosphere is relaxed and professional. This was my first and hopefully my last dentist office.
