I had a good experience with Pine Lake Dentistry for many years, and then things started to fray. I let a couple of administrative hiccups go, but in the end simply stopped trusting the ability or willingness of the office staff to help me schedule procedures in ways that would maximize reimbursement. I'm paying off a (not insignificant) bill and have asked for a detailed accounting - no dice.

Just a monthly bill for services I don't even remember.

I would give no star if I could for this business. I strongly advise against visiting this dental clinic due to a highly disappointing experience. Dr. Chen was overly aggressive in recommending treatments that seemed unnecessary, prioritizing business over patient care. My husband and I, having visited dentists from Los Angeles to the Bay Area to Seattle, found this to be our worst dental experience. Dr.

Chen lacked empathy and patience; during a procedure, I was visibly nervous and shaking, and her only response was an impatient, "Can you not shake?" The administrative side was equally problematic. Between March and August 2024, my husband and I visited 4–5 times, paying $699, $649. 80, and $133 out-of-pocket for services beyond our MetLife dental insurance. In early 2025, we received an unexpected bill for over $1,000. After reviewing our insurance claims, I calculated the balance should be $140. 44 and requested an itemized bill for each visit and claim—a standard practice.

The office failed to provide this and instead sent a vague bill for $759. 80 with no explanation. This lack of transparency and poor patient care is unacceptable. I plan to report this issue to my dental insurance provider and the Washington Dental Association for potential accounting irregularities. Avoid this clinic to spare yourself the frustration.

Dr. Chen is an incredible doctor, but ever since the office administration changed, this place has become an absolute nightmare. The level of disregard and disrespect I experienced was beyond unacceptable. The front desk staff—especially one particular employee—was shockingly rude, condescending, and completely unprofessional. For a loyal, paying patient, I was treated like nothing more than an inconvenience.

Canceling my appointment on the same day just because I didn’t respond to a text within three hours? Unbelievable. Yet, when they made billing mistakes or scheduling errors, there were zero consequences on their end. But the moment I needed to reschedule slightly outside their rigid 48-hour window, they tried to slap me with a $200 fee. The hypocrisy is astounding—they can mess with your appointment whenever they want, but if you have an emergency or need some basic flexibility, they show no empathy whatsoever. Dr.

Chen deserves better than this disaster of an office. Until they learn how to treat patients with basic respect, I won’t be stepping foot in this place again. Absolutely disgraceful.
