I found Okemos Pediatric dentistry through a random Internet search. I'm not usually so lucky with those, but Dr. Jung turned out to be a great dentist. Some recent dentists I've used seem to over treat, suggesting procedures I don t necessarily need. Unlike these other dentists, I don't get the sense Dr. Jung is trying to retire early based on my child's dental work.
I've been so pleased with his work on my child that I've recommended him to friends and family. Update: Been seeing Dr. Jung for years. No issues. Happy to have found a stable dentist that hasn't moved from place to place.

My son and I have had a wonderful experience every time we have visited Dr. Jung's office. I was referred to Dr. Jung through my family dentist. My child has severe autism, and my general dentist found it too difficult to treat his multiple dental issues.
He has a lot of anxiety surrounding visiting the dentist. The different treatment options were explained to me thoroughly and I was able to make an informed decision that I felt was best for my child before signing any paperwork. Any and all questions I had were always welcome, encouraged, and answered in detail. Overall, I have had nothing but positive experiences with this office!!

** RED FLAG: DR. JUNG TYPICALLY DOES NOT ALLOW PARENTS BACK WITH CHILDREN 2+** 🤯 I wanted to make sure I created the most non-biased, non-emotional, factual review because if someone took the time to do this – it would have saved me so much time and probably displaced anger. I needed to schedule my 2 year old a dentist appointment just to look at and count her teeth. I didn’t anticipate an X-Ray because she’s so young, I’m not a huge fan of radiation if not necessary, and etc etc. However, when they told me on the phone that they won’t clean her teeth UNLESS there is an X-ray, I became a little apprehensive. In addition, they said, you are not allowed in the room for the X-Ray. You have to wait in the waiting room. I know my 2 year old, and she wasn’t going to allow that to happen. I asked the (sweet) receptionist the alternatives if the Xray became an issue – and then I asked if we could do the cleaning first to avoid a meltdown that may ruin the entire time after (meltdown aka a developmentally appropriate toddler response being without their parent in the room in a STALE strangers’ scary dentist office.
She assured me everyone is trained, my daughter will be fine, then I can join her for her cleaning. Okay, I thought. That seems reasonable, though I didn’t like I wouldn’t be in my daughters sight for some time. We get to the office and it’s nice. A nice child’s play cube, a fish tank, and children’s story books about the dentist. I prepared my daughter by watching some YouTube videos on TV of what she can expect at the dentist. Each office had their parent in the room with them for the cleaning. The kind hygienist/assistant calls our family back. We didn’t go to the Xray room, but we were called into a small office winged off of the waiting room.
The hygienist explained before we do Xrays or cleanings that in order to proceed with care, I would have to sign a form that if my daughter became “combative” or “wouldn’t let them in her mouth” by raising or hands or turning her head, that they would place her in a straightjacket that they called a “papoose. ” My daughter does not have any notable behavioral concerns, she’s less than 30 lbs, and typically appropriate-- a little nervous for the dentist. My husband and I thought this was a joke. What was even “funnier,” is that they wanted me to sign this paperwork for a ROUTINE cleaning and a child with no pre-existing conditions for the dentist to be allowed to place my daughter in this straightjacket, and we were NOT allowed to be back for the cleaning either. So, you’re telling me…my daughters two parents had to be in the waiting room, while they did xrays and a routine cleaning without us present, with consent to restrain her for a routine cleaning? I am an LMSW and I have a career in Early Childhood. This way of practice was not just against everything I have learned as a professional, but so many red flags and gut instincts of terror as a parent.

Dr. Jung only cares about charging and profiting as much as possible off children’s teeth. Without explanation or having me okay what he wanted to do, he put four crowns on all four of my daughters front teeth. She only had two little tiny cavities between her front two baby teeth, which could have easily been filled. Instead, he went with the most expensive unnecessary option he could, and put four crowns on and the back of the crowns were silver! When my daughter smiled or opened her mouth you could see silver on the back of her front teeth. He did not explain that this was what he was going to do and definitely didn’t say they would have silver on the backs of them. THEY WERE BABY TEETH. ALL HE NEEDED TO DO WAS PUT A COUPLE fillings IN.
THEY WERE GOING TO START FALLING OUT WITHIN A YEAR ANYWAYS! But, like I mentioned, he wanted to be able to charge our insurance company as much as he possibly could and didn’t care about what he did to my daughters teeth or how they looked. Obviously we have found a new dentist that is so much better than this guy. Her new dentist confirmed that everything Mr. Jung did was unnecessary. All that she needed was a couple fillings in those baby teeth. This guy is a coward. I wanted to let him know what I thought about him and what he did, but he made sure my daughter was in the room, so I wasn’t able to say what I needed to. Do not take your children to this hack.
He’s just going to go with the most expensive option and also do things that are completely unnecessary to do. He doesn’t care about your child, he just wants to profit as much as he possibly can. Also, his staff at the front are extremely rude and unhelpful. Absolutely the worst dentist office I’ve ever came across in my 36 years. Garbage human being and terrible at his job, bottom line.
