Detailed Introduction

Midwest Dental - La Crosse is a well-established dental clinic located at 20 Copeland Ave #201, La Crosse, WI 54601. As part of the larger Midwest Dental network, which operates numerous offices across multiple states, this location benefits from the resources and support of a prominent dental support organization (DSO), now under Smile Brands. The clinic is dedicated to providing high-quality, patient-focused dental care to the La Crosse community. Their services are comprehensive, catering to a wide range of dental needs. These include general dentistry, such as routine check-ups, cleanings, and preventative care for both children and adults, including specific dentistry for seniors. They also offer a variety of cosmetic dentistry options, including teeth whitening, dental veneers, clear aligners, and dental crowns, to help patients achieve their desired smiles. For restorative needs, Midwest Dental - La Crosse provides services like dental fillings, dental bridges, and root canal treatments. They are also equipped to handle dental emergencies, aiming to see patients in pain on the same day. The clinic emphasizes patient comfort and aims to create a welcoming environment. They accept a wide range of dental insurance plans and offer flexible financing options, including CareCredit and in-house payment plans, to make dental care accessible and affordable. Patient reviews often highlight the friendly and caring staff, efficient service, and the ability of the dental professionals to put anxious patients at ease. While some reviews indicate occasional staffing changes, many long-term patients express satisfaction with the consistent quality of care. Midwest Dental, as a larger entity, was founded in 1968 and has grown significantly since then, becoming a major player in the dental industry. The La Crosse office reflects this larger organization's commitment to delivering comprehensive dental solutions with a focus on patient well-being and satisfaction.

Don't trust these people with your kids. They will wait till your kids teeth rot away before sending you to a different dentist who finally prescribed you a medicine but it's to late because there teeth are 3/4 gone and it shoulda been prescribed from the beginning.

Dr. McEldowney's lack of action caused me significant suffering for over a year, and ultimately, the loss of my tooth. To start, a crown I had placed by another dentist was inflamed around the gums. When I went back to that dentist, he said it would need to be replaced with a new crown and a post. Following this, the gums around the crown were painful all of the time. Dr. McEldowney took over the practice after this dentist left and I saw him a few months later. I told him about the previous dentist's plan and told him how painful it was. Dr. McEldowney told me that the crown didn't need to be replaced, and told me that I needed to be brushing and flossing more thoroughly, even though I was in good oral health otherwise. Roughly six months later, I came back because my pain hadn't resolved. Dr. McEldowney had one of the oral hygienists do a cleaning on my teeth.

Again, they told me I needed to brush and floss more thoroughly. I was brushing and flossing at least 5 times a day at this point. The pain continued. In June 2024, Dr. McEldowney referred me to a periodontist at Gundersen Dental Specialties. The periodontist said that my crown's rough margins were collecting bacteria and causing my pain. He said the crown would need to be replaced by my general dentist. When I called Dr. McEldowney, he refused to replace the crown. I needed to find someone to replace the crown since neither practice would do it. I went to Midwest Dental on Losey Blvd. By the time I had the wire removed(I have braces), and had the tooth examined by this dentist, he said it was too loose and needed to be extracted. I called Dr.

McEldowney to have the tooth extracted. He refused to do this, and referred me to Gundersen Dental Specialties, who were fully booked for months. I had my tooth extracted at Grand River Dental. According to the other professionals I saw, this could have been prevented if the crown had been replaced before the tooth became loose from the chronic inflammation. It is going to cost me $4. 5k to replace this tooth with an implant, not to mention the original $2k I lost on the root canal and crown for this tooth. I am traumatized, disgusted, and in disbelief that this happened to me. I believe Dr. McEldowney is a good person, he is empathetic, and has a kind heart. However, I can't imagine how I would ever trust him with my dental care after he allowed me to suffer in pain until I lost my tooth. Please be cautious and don't wait to get a second opinion like I did. I wish I could turn back time.

Dr Scharla Collins fit me in and fixed a filing for me that had been done incorrectly. Bonus, she was quick, kind, and professional. She has my undying tooth allegiance and I want her to do all my dental work from now on! Midwest is lucky to have her

Within one year they cancelled on me multiple times, with next available 6 months away. When I did manage to get an appt the hygenists were good, especially Jules.
