Detailed Introduction

Michigan Dental Sleep Center, Inc. is a dedicated clinic located at 4279 W Vienna Rd, Clio, MI 48420, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep-disordered breathing, particularly obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and snoring. The clinic aims to provide effective and comfortable alternatives to traditional CPAP therapy, such as custom-fitted oral appliances. Their approach focuses on individualized patient care, offering complimentary consultations to discuss symptoms and potential treatment options. The services provided by Michigan Dental Sleep Center, Inc. include: Complimentary Sleep Apnea Consultations: They offer no-cost, individual 30-minute consultations to discuss sleep breathing disorders, allowing patients to learn about sleep apnea symptoms and potential risks. At-Home Sleep Testing: For suspected sleep apnea cases, the clinic assists in ordering convenient and accurate home sleep tests. These tests are interpreted by a Board Certified Sleep Physician, with results then discussed with the patient to determine a diagnosis. oral appliance therapy (OAT): This is a primary treatment offered. Oral appliances are custom-fitted devices, similar to retainers or mouthguards, that are worn during sleep. They work by gently moving the lower jaw and tongue forward to keep the airway open, thereby reducing or eliminating snoring and sleep apnea events. CPAP Alternatives: Recognizing that many patients find CPAP machines uncomfortable or difficult to use consistently, Michigan Dental Sleep Center, Inc. emphasizes oral appliance therapy as a comfortable and portable alternative. Collaboration with Physicians: The clinic works in conjunction with sleep physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care for patients. Dr. Williamson, who is associated with Michigan Dental Sleep Center, Inc., has personally experienced OSA and has shifted his focus from traditional dentistry to treating patients with this condition, bringing a strong understanding and empathy to his practice. The clinic's philosophy revolves around treating the whole person, focusing on how oral appliance therapy can improve sleep and overall well-being. They highlight the benefits of treatment, including more restful sleep, increased daytime alertness, improved concentration, memory, and energy, and a reduction in health risks associated with untreated sleep apnea. The clinic also addresses common patient concerns and questions regarding sleep apnea, snoring, and the differences between CPAP and oral appliances.

Dr. Williamson and his friendly staff are wonderful to work with! After being diagnosed with mild sleep apnea, I was hesitant about the process of finding a dental device to correct my apnea. I did not want to use a cpap machine. Dr. Williamson worked patiently with me and corrected my apnea! I will be forever grateful and I feel great!

Dr. Williamson and his staff have gone above and beyond to accommodate my sleep apnea dental device needs. Doctor wants to ensure that sleep apnea is no longer an issue for his patients and his expertise and knowledge helps him achieve that goal. I would recommend Dr. Williamson to anyone diagnosed w/sleep apnea who is unable to use a CPAP machine.

Dr Mark Williamson is great. He is extremely knowledgeable with the sleep field and took time to explain exactly what was going on with my case. I have a rare condition and he took the time to get to the root of my issue instead of just giving me a CPAP machine that I didn't need, collecting a copay and pushing me out the door.

His thoroughness and honesty is greatly appreciated. I highly recommend him.

Having used a CPAP machine for nearly 9 years, I felt frustrated and not completely satisfied with the outcome in treating my sleep apnea. The CPAP was awkward to use, difficult to clean, uncomfortable and cumbersome. I consulted the Michigan Dental Sleep Center and have been wearing a nighttime dental device that was custom made, specifically for me. The device is comfortable, easy to use, quick to clean and convenient for travel. Unlike the CPAP, there is no need for distilled water or an electrical outlet. Also, there is no morning puffiness or creases on my face from the CPAP mask. .

The process for fitting the dental appliance was highly individualized. It required periodic adjustments, an at home sleep study and wearing a pulse oximeter on your finger at night to check the level of oxygen during sleep. The Michigan Dental Sleep Center is a professional facility, well organized and appointments are always on time. Both Dr. Witkow and Dr. Williamson have received extensive education and training in sleep apnea and the use of dental appliances for treatment. Everyone I met at the sleep center was pleasant, knowledgeable and efficient.

The staff has always been supportive and helpful. Dr. Witkow, Dr. Williamson, Chris and Sonya make a great team. The Michigan Dental Sleep Center is an excellent choice to explore an alternative to Sleep apnea treatment.
