The
McChord Dental Clinic is a dedicated dental facility located on Outer Drive at McChord Air Force Base within Joint Base Lewis-McChord (
JBLM), Washington. As part of the 62nd Medical Squadron, it primarily serves active-duty military service members, offering a wide array of general dentistry and selected specialty care services.
The clinic's comprehensive offerings include routine examinations, professional cleanings (prophylaxis), and various preventive services such as fluoride treatments and sealants. For restorative needs, they provide tooth
fillings (both amalgam and composite). More complex procedures like root canals (endodontics), gum disease treatment (periodontics), and extractions (
oral surgery) are also performed. Additionally, the clinic offers crown and bridge work and removable dentures as needed. In cases requiring highly complex oral rehabilitation, referrals are provided. The McChord Dental Clinic is also associated with the U.S. Army Dental Command and, in some instances, is part of a larger network of dental clinics at JBLM, which may include residency programs for advanced dental education.
Operating hours for the clinic are generally Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. However, it's important to note that the clinic is typically closed every Thursday after 12:00 p.m., specifically on the second Thursday of each month for training, and also on federal holidays and selected training holidays. For after-hours dental emergencies, active-duty patients are directed to contact the Madigan Army Medical Center Emergency Department. While the primary focus is on active-duty personnel, some specialty or surgical care for family members and retirees may be extremely limited and considered on a case-by-case basis. Family members of active-duty personnel are encouraged to enroll in TRICARE Dental Plans for civilian
dental care.
