Little peaches has been my Childrens dentistry since my eldest child started his dentist appointments. It’s been 12 years and I have continued to choose Dr. Caswell as their dentist for all 5 of my children.

We have been going to this practice for years. We are very familiar with the doc and her staff. My child was scheduled for an extraction. My child has had an extraction in the past and is terrified of them. The last time she screamed and kicked and I had to help to console her.
So I took off from work because my child asked me to take her instead of her dad. When the staff calls for us to go back, they inform me just because of the age (10) that parents are no longer allowed to go back for the procedure. Well no one informed us of this prior to this visit. I work in the healthcare field and just because a child is a certain age doesn’t mean their mental state is the same. I allowed for the procedure to go on because it had to be done, but I was so worried and concerned about my child that I became angry.
When my child came back she was she was so scared and was crying. I will be looking for another pediatric dentist for my children. Doc you need to reconsider and understand that it just because they are 10 years old doesn’t make their mental state at ease during an extraction. cleaning yeah but extraction you should give their liberty to choose.

My child was sick with a fever, so I canceled his appointment for tooth extraction. They have previously said that if your child is sick that they would not be able to see him and push the appt out 2wks! He has been waiting to have this tooth pulled that is been abscessed, causing him pain, and impairing his ability to eat, and keeping him up all night. He’s already gone in for one tooth extraction, and they did not want to do this one at the same time because they said he needed to be on antibiotics. Now they are saying that they won’t get him in until June and there’s a possibility they could get him in with a cancellation, but no guarantee. My problem with this is that you are allowing a child with an infected tooth to wait putting his overall health at risk. I think that is an irresponsible way to practice and we will be finding another place to go. I understand being busy and being booked, but some things need to be prioritized and a tooth with a fistula that is causing extreme pain should take prior priority. With that said the last time I was there was so traumatic for this child that maybe finding another practitioner is in our best interest anyway. In response to your response, I can assure you my child was traumatized. An X-ray was taken of the WRONG tooth ( y’all were supposed to X-ray the left tooth and you did the right, which was not the plan), laughing gas wore off, he was screaming and being held down. He still talks about it. The tooth was pulled while the laughing gas was not working.
The doctor looked at me and said “do you want me to do this? He’s going to scream “ I asked what choice do we have? She said “there isn’t another choice “. I also explained to the doctor that my mom died and we were unable to come back immediately last year. I did seek a second opinion and they wanted to do full sedation. I felt uncomfortable with that and came back to you. Obviously, sedation would have been less traumatic and I should have followed the advice of the other dentist because at this point both teeth would be pulled. Furthermore, every time I schedule an appt it’s a month out and he has to be on antibiotics because the teeth keep getting infected. You said that the doctor wouldn’t keep putting him on antibiotics, but the extractions have been delayed twice for antibiotic therapy. He is at risk for developing another infection while we wait, and yes, that is how the body works. You said “that’s not how the body works” when I expressed concern over developing another infection. My husband has had multiple abscesses on the same tooth waiting for the dentist at the VA. Also, I never yelled, I did speak strongly, but no yelling. You shamed me for canceling the appointment and I thought that was the appropriate thing to do, maybe I should have just come in, but I did not want to expose staff to a virus.
Prioritizing my child is not booking him in June and crossing your fingers in hopes that there is a cancellation. To be honest, the responsible action would be to refer out for sooner treatment. As a nurse, I know the seriousness in delaying treatment so I do not need a lecture. Also, in Sept, the next appointment offered was late Dec or Jan. When I called in Jan, the available appointments were in March. So, yes, I went somewhere else and received a 2nd opinion which I feel appropriate. I notified my pediatrician what was going on and he felt it was not appropriate to wait on the extraction. I contacted another dentist and they were NOT surprised this was my experience. They are working to get us in ASAP so he doesn’t develop another abscess and continue to experience pain. He doesn’t not have to wait for a cancellation, they said he is priority and will be seen next week even though they are booked for 2mo.

Had a 3rd experience at little peaches with my 4 year old son and we will not be returning. The dentistal hygienist literally didn't make my child feel comfortable at all. He was very afraid and all she did was say use your words and laughing. I didn't see anything funny.
Even when the doctor came in, he was even more terrified and again more laughing. Not one person made my child feel comfortable. Also they staff is very non chalant and very unprofessional. I will be taking my children somewhere else for their dental services
