The center is committed to providing high-quality, inclusive care to all residents, including those who are not currently patients of Island Health Care's other services. The center is led by Dental Director, Dr. Dino Maggiulli, who is noted for being one of the only dentists on the island to accept MassHealth insurance. The establishment of the dental center was a multi-year project, supported by a combination of federal and state grants, private donations from organizations like MVYouth, and support from Martha's Vineyard Bank. It was created to fill a critical gap in local healthcare services after the closure of the Martha's Vineyard Hospital's dental office.
