Detailed Introduction

Harrison Pediatric dentistry is a well-established dental clinic located at 1003 Harrison Ave # 300, Harrison, OH 45030, proudly serving the Harrison, OH community and surrounding areas. Founded in 2005 by Dr. Thomas Madl Jr., the practice was established with a mission to provide accessible, high-quality, and compassionate dental care specifically tailored to children. Dr. Madl Jr. made a commitment to continue serving the local families after a larger healthcare system ceased operations in the area, building a practice rooted in trust and consistency. The clinic offers a comprehensive suite of pediatric dental services, ensuring that children receive care from their very first tooth through adolescence. Key services include: Preventive Dentistry: Regular dental exams, cleanings, fluoride treatments, and dental sealants to protect against cavities. Restorative Dentistry: Dental fillings, dental crowns, root canals (pulpectomies/pulpotomies), and extractions for addressing dental issues. Space Maintainers: To ensure proper development and alignment if primary teeth are lost prematurely. Frenectomies (Lip & Tongue Tie Treatment): Addressing issues that can affect feeding and speech. Sedation Dentistry: Offering options like laughing gas to ensure anxious or fidgety children remain comfortable and stress-free during procedures. Emergency Dental Care: Prompt treatment for unexpected dental injuries or pain. Invisalign® for Teens: Orthodontic solutions for adolescents. Oral Hygiene Education: Guiding both children and parents on proper brushing, flossing, and diet for lifelong oral health. Harrison Pediatric Dentistry emphasizes a "We Care for the Child" philosophy, focusing on the holistic well-being of each young patient. The team, which includes Dr. Madl Jr. and new additions like Dr. Vaughan and Dr. Bailey, is trained in child behavior and communication, employing kid-friendly language and positive reinforcement to build trust and reduce dental anxiety. The office environment is designed to be calm, welcoming, and fun, with amenities often including engaging waiting room activities to make visits enjoyable. Patients and parents consistently praise the staff's kindness, patience, and ability to make dental experiences positive, often highlighting the compassionate approach and thorough explanations provided by the dentists. The clinic also offers a membership plan for patients without insurance, which includes exams, cleanings, fluoride treatments, X-rays, and discounts on additional treatments, making quality dental care more accessible.

I used to think that Dr. Madl was great the first few times we visited his office. I had no complaints. Both of my sons were getting older, and we felt comfortable enough to where they could start going back to get their cleanings and work done by themselves and I could stay out in the lobby. That was my mistake for feeling, too comfortable and thinking it was okay for them to go back by themselves. My youngest son is now scarred for life and is scared to go to the dentist, because of the way Dr.

Madl treated him during a cleaning. He can put on a pretty good show in front of the parents. But is a different person when the parents aren’t in the room. My son was getting upset during a cleaning, and Doctor told him to “knock it off”, and made him feel like he would get in trouble if he didn’t sit still. Well, when you are a child, that can be very frightening, and thanks to him my child is now nervous that every dentist is mean. If he was so upset, I don’t know why they didn’t just come out to the lobby and get me.

Dr. Madl tried to brush it off like it was no big deal. Never going back there again.

I just met my daughter and 2 grandsons (5 & 2) at Dr. Madl's office, since both boys had dental appointments today. Things were going along fine with the dental assistant telling my grandson (5) what she was doing. . . until she started brushing or squirting something on his teeth and telling him to swallow. I asked what she was doing and then she said, "Oh it's just the fluoride treatment. " I told her we had been researching and we're not convinced that fluoride is a good thing.

She just dismissed it and said, "I wish they would stop saying that. " The 2 year old was in another room with Dr. Madl and my daughter and the dentist applied the fluoride without asking her also. This is not acceptable. We are both livid and will not return to that office. Do your research and make the decision for yourself and your family. My point is that parents should be asked if they want a procedure, not told after the fact.

I couldn't be more thankful that my two sons grew up being treated and cared for by such a wonderful, kind, and knowledgeable dentist. My sons are adults now and wish they could still go to him. 🦷🪥 Thank you Dr. Madl
