Great Lakes Bay Health Centers (GLBHC) is a prominent non-profit organization dedicated to providing high-quality, comprehensive healthcare services to individuals and communities throughout the Great Lakes Bay Region and beyond in Michigan. Founded in 1968 as a small grant-funded program to serve migrant farmworkers, GLBHC has grown significantly to become one of Michigan's largest Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), operating over 30 locations including several in Saginaw, MI, such as the Administrative Building, Janes Street, Old Town, and Davenport Health Center. Their mission is to offer excellent health care, particularly to those who are underserved, uninsured, or underinsured, ensuring services are accessible regardless of race, beliefs, or ability to pay. GLBHC adopts a patient-centered medical home philosophy, aiming to treat the whole patient – mind, body, and spirit – through coordinated and integrated care. GLBHC offers a wide array of services, including routine medical care, specialized care (such as OB/GYN and midwifery services), dental care, behavioral health services (including substance use disorder treatment and child & adolescent psychiatry), vision services, pharmacy services, physical therapy, mammography, phlebotomy, and WIC (Women, Infant & Children) programs. They also provide community services, family planning, Hepatitis C treatment, HIV services, COVID-19 testing and vaccination, and inpatient care coordination. The administrative building located at 501 Lapeer Ave, Saginaw, MI, serves as the central hub for their extensive operations. With a commitment to community health, GLBHC strives to be conveniently located and sensitive to the diverse needs of their patient population, offering services at convenient times and in understandable languages. They actively collaborate with educational institutions and other area providers to enhance care and improve health outcomes for conditions like infant mortality, diabetes, and chronic diseases.
