Good Neighbor Health Clinic

Good Neighbor Health Clinic is a non-profit free healthcare facility located in White River Junction, Vermont, dedicated to serving the Upper Valley region. The clinic provides essential medical and dental care at no cost to adult residents (18 and over) who are uninsured or underinsured and living within 30 miles of its location. It operates with a core mission to promote health for those in need, offering a crucial safety net for individuals facing financial hardship. The organization's history dates back to 1992, when two local doctors, Dr. Peter Mason and Dr. Paul Manganiello, began offering primary care to homeless and underserved residents. This grassroots effort grew, and by 1994, dental services were added with the help of Dr. Bob Keene and Dr. Red Logan, leading to the official establishment of the Red Logan Dental Clinic in 1996. In 2001, the clinic found a permanent home in the historic Gates Memorial Library, a neo-Gothic revival building that was restored and transformed into a modern health center. The clinic's services extend beyond basic check-ups to include a wide array of offerings to address various aspects of patient well-being. These services include: Primary Care: Routine medical care and management of chronic conditions. Dental Care: Comprehensive services through the Red Logan Dental Clinic. Mental Health Counseling: Access to therapy for emotional and psychological support. Harm Reduction Services: Initiatives like a 24/7 harm reduction vending machine, providing access to essential supplies. Assistance Programs: Help with applications for Medicare and Medicaid, as well as smoking cessation assistance. Specialty Referrals: Connecting patients with ophthalmology and physical therapy services. The clinic is run by a dedicated team of healthcare professionals and a large network of volunteers, many of whom are students and faculty from Dartmouth's Geisel School of Medicine. It is a member of the Vermont Free & Referral Clinics and collaborates with regional hospitals to improve care for the local population. Good Neighbor Health Clinic's commitment to quality care has been recognized with a Gold Rating from the National Association of Free & Charitable Clinics Quality Standards Program.
