The Fayette County Community Action Agency (FCCAA) is a long-standing Non-profit organization that has been serving the residents of Fayette County, Pennsylvania, for nearly 60 years, since its establishment in 1966. Located at 140 N Beeson Ave #401, Uniontown, PA 15401, FCCAA's mission is to strengthen individuals and families, enabling them to become more self-sufficient, achieve their full potential, improve their living conditions, and take ownership of their community. FCCAA assists over 30,000 residents annually through a wide array of programs and services designed to meet diverse community needs. These services address both immediate emergencies and long-term empowerment goals. Key areas of assistance include: Housing and Development: Providing solutions for housing stability, including rent and security deposit assistance, utility assistance, rental information and referral, budget counseling, and advocacy for fair and accessible housing. They are certified by HUD and PHFA as a housing counseling agency. Energy Assistance: Helping residents manage energy costs and maintain essential utility services. Emergency Assistance: Offering immediate support for individuals and families facing crises, such as food and shelter for the newly poor, recently unemployed, and homeless. Employment and Training: Programs like the Community Training Institute offer vocational training, such as the Nursing Assistant Training Program, and job placement assistance to enhance workforce skills and opportunities. The Experience Works! Program provides paid work experience for young adults. Empowerment and Leadership Development: Initiatives focused on building skills and fostering community leadership. Casework and Service Coordination: Providing individualized support and connecting clients with necessary resources. Family Supports: Comprehensive services aimed at strengthening family units. Food and Nutrition: Operating a Food bank that distributes over 2 million pounds of food annually to approximately 30,000 individuals through a network of volunteer pantries, feeding sites, and soup kitchens. Programs include emergency food assistance, the PA Senior Food Box Program, and the Weekend Snack Pack Program for children. They also have a "Shop-Thru" that mimics a grocery store for participants. Personal Care: Offering services that support personal well-being. Recreation: Providing opportunities for community engagement and leisure activities. Health: Addressing health-related needs within the community, including initiatives related to mental health. Community Development Services: Projects and initiatives aimed at improving the overall conditions and infrastructure of Fayette County.
