Came to him on a Thursday because I had a tooth infection. I was in pain then but no swelling at that point. He gave me amoxicillin and the earliest procedure for his root canal was monday. Unfortunately Friday I started to swell and I was in a lot of pain. Had to take off work because of it. Tried to hold off as long as possible but had to finally call at 445pm due to increased swelling and pain. They were closed to I had to call his cell after hours. He said if the swelling doesn't spread to my eye not to call again and that the antibiotics need more time.

My face started to swell up like a balloon and the pain was so bad I couldnt sleep that night. I called early the next day and was again blown off when I asked about a different antibiotic and something else to manage the pain. Finally I called my normal dentist who is great and he called Dr Palermo for me because I was not going to call a dr again who blew me off and made me feel like some hypochondriac. Mind you, I was 41 at the time and never called an after hours Dr before in my life. My normal dentist worked with palermo and got me on another stronger antibiotic but of course not until Sunday because palermo called it in too late to the pharmacy. He has absolutely no empathy for a type of pain and swelling that I never experienced before. I give him 2 stars instead of 1 only because the root canal on monday was a success and he seems competent at that part of his job. However, he is also the type of dentist that doesnt give you any updates during a procedure of what is going on or anything and you have to ask.

My numbing was wearing off by the time my procedure was done and again he gives you nothing for the pain so thankfully I had bought a bottle of water and the motrin and tylenol that I was taking around the clock already and I popped them as soon as I got into my car. You get nothing stronger from him. I don't even like to take anything personally but this pain was too severe. I will not go to this Dr again. The entire experience was one of the worst of my life.

Dr Palermo is wonderful at what he does. I won't dread a root canal nearly as much now that I have found him. His office staff is very professional and friendly. It was definitely a 5 star experience dealing with a root canal.

I had my first root canal done by Dr. Palermo yesterday. It was absolutely pain free including the novacaine injections. I have little to no discomfort today. The office kindly called to check on me. A big plus is they accept my dental insurance. That took the edge off too.
