Great place, was offered an appointment SO quick (same day!) this week for a cleaning & the staff & dr cunningham are all so pleasant & go out of their way. I even damaged a temporary crown in the past and was able to schedule an emergency Sunday appt w Dr. C. to fix it! Easily the most professional, caring, and painless experience I’ve had w/ a dentist or practice in general. Highly recommend.

Distinctive Dentistry is a hidden gem in Ballentine, SC. The atmosphere in the office is very friendly and laid back (with pretty decent music playing, too)! Dr. Cunningham is very kind and honest and doesn’t pressure you into unnecessary procedures. The front desk is very friendly, even though they stay super busy.
The dental hygienists I’ve had were very friendly, professional and, most importantly, gentle when cleaning my teeth. The dental assistants are very good at calming my nerves before a procedure and seem to have a great of working relationship with Dr. Cunningham. Going to the dentist is never fun, but when the office is like this one, its not too bad…

Listen, I’m all for being efficient, but y’all could at least pretend to care. Not a single “How’s your day?” or even a hint of personality…. at all — just straight to business with the energy of a waiting room plant. Every visit feels like I’m being rushed through the slowest silent assembly line.
And let’s talk about the sensitivity—why do my teeth always leave feeling worse than they came in? It’s giving weird vibes and zero bedside manner. Definitely not the warm, welcoming dental experience I’ve had elsewhere. Maybe y’all could keep customers if you built relationships! Hope that helps :)

I am writing this review on behalf of my mother. I do not recommend Dr. Robert Cunningham based on my experience. I was getting a crown fixed. Shortly after, the tooth broke. Dr. Cunningham placed a post in the tooth and attached a new crown, but the post kept falling out repeatedly—I had to return more than five times to have it re-cemented.
Eventually, the tooth broke at the root. Even after this, he waited three to four months before removing the broken tooth, which caused me significant discomfort. When he finally performed the extraction, he had to cut into the area and ended up damaging a completely different, healthy tooth—cutting it almost in half. I ultimately left the practice because the treatment caused more harm than what I went in for. This experience has been stressful, costly, and painful. I would caution others to consider this before seeking care here.
