I’ve been a loyal patient at Dental Team of Bayview (Previously Bayview Dental) for 24 years, but after today, I will not be returning. I went in for a routine cleaning and check-up — no pain, no issues, just standard maintenance. Dr. Villa, who had been my trusted dentist for decades, left a few years ago. Since then, I’ve noticed a revolving door of hygienists, and unfortunately, today’s visit confirmed that the quality of care has seriously declined. The hygienist I saw today caused significant pain during a basic periodontal exam. She was aggressively poking my gums, causing unnecessary bleeding and discomfort — so much so that I had to stop the procedure midway through. I’ve never experienced anything like this in over two decades of cleanings at this office.

She called over the current dentist (not one I’d seen before), who told me what I felt was “normal. ” I respectfully disagreed, and when the dentist performed the exact same exam, it was painless. When I pointed that out, I was brushed off as if I were the problem. The hygienist even admitted she used a different tool than the dentist — yet still, no apology, no accountability. To top it off, the dentist quickly pivoted to a sales pitch for Invisalign for a minor overbite and a deep cleaning — neither of which I had asked about. I was still open to completing the regular cleaning, but the hygienist insisted on doing the deep cleaning immediately. I declined, already in pain from her initial exam, and said I’d reschedule. As I left, the hygienist told the front desk that I should be assigned to a new hygienist — something I wholeheartedly agreed with.

The receptionist said the manager would follow up. It’s been hours and no call. After 24 years, they’ve lost not just me, but my family and employees whom I referred. The level of care, communication, and professionalism has gone downhill. If you’re considering this dental office — do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

The entire overall experience was wonderful and painless. The front office staff is very friendly and welcoming. my dental hygienist was Christina and she’s just wonderful very well mannered down to earth. she’s very detail oriented,She speaks to you the entire time to let you know what’s happening and puts you at ease.

She’s definitely good at what she does. The office is clean and the music is very soothing, definitely workplace friendly. I would highly recommend Dental Team of Bayview for anyone looking for a new dentist or a dentist in general.
