I came here for a consultation, very expensive place btw, and wanted to then book for a deep cleaning. I told them I have bad dental anxiety and they said they understood and dealt with that all the time. Ok, their cleanings are about 20% more expensive than my dentist but I wanted a periodontist to do the cleaning so I said that’s fine I’ll wait until my insurance kicks in again since I already used my dental benefits to get some crowns I needed at my dentist. So the day comes and they call me to set an appointment, I tell the rude old lady on the phone (receptionist at Cornick) about my dental anxiety and she says they offer local anesthesia for $90 out of pocket on top of any co-pay.

Ok, cool, I ask if they offer anything for the dental anxiety such as a prescription for Halcion or laughing gas. I’m told over the phone they “don’t do that for just a cleaning”??? A scaling and root planning may not be considered a big deal for someone working on them all the time but when you have serious dental anxiety like I do it is very difficult to have a needle inserted into my gums and then have the teeth scraped under the gums for almost an hour. Just thinking about it makes me dizzy. But when told this she essentially scoffed at me and was even appalled at the mention at the local anesthesia being used!? Now there’s not a chance in heck I can have any procedure done in an office that lacks compassion for patients so I’m back to square one and out the about $500 out of pocket I paid to come for the consultation.

So now I need to go even longer without proper care while I continue to research for a more compassionate periodontist office. Unless you have perfect dental records, don’t need pain or anxiety remedies and don’t mind being treated inhumanely by staff at this office I would highly suggest you look elsewhere.
