About

Broad Avenue dental Center is a dental clinic in Memphis, TN, operated by Christ Community Health Services, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). It provides a wide range of general dentistry services for all ages, including check-ups, cleanings, fillings, crowns, and dentures, with a special program for seniors. As part of a larger network, the clinic focuses on providing high-quality, affordable care to underserved communities, regardless of a patient's ability to pay.
Broad Avenue dental Center is a key location of Christ Community Health Services (CCHS), a non-profit, faith-based organization that serves the Memphis community. The dental clinic is situated in the Binghampton neighborhood and operates out of an 11-operatory, 5,000-square-foot facility. As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), CCHS is committed to providing comprehensive primary and preventative care, including dental and mental health services, to all individuals, regardless of their insurance status or ability to pay. The clinic's mission is to offer high-quality care to underserved populations in the context of distinctly Christian service. The dental services provided at Broad Avenue Dental Center are extensive and cater to all age groups. They include routine check-ups, professional cleanings, dental sealants, fillings, crowns and bridges, periodontal services, extractions, root canals, and dentures. The clinic also has a dedicated program called "SMILE on 60+" which offers many common dental procedures for a low facility fee for qualifying senior patients. In addition to general dentistry, the broader Christ Community Health Services network provides a wide range of other medical services, from adult and pediatric primary care to behavioral health and pharmacy services. The center is dedicated to making healthcare accessible and affordable, and it often has programs and partnerships to support this mission, such as a grant-funded initiative to provide dental care to uninsured students, homeless individuals, and pregnant women.

The staff was very courteous. I was seen in good timing. The procedure went well. They checked in to see if I was numb twice before the procedure.

The assistant gave me great conversation and thoroughly listed aftercare directions. I had to have two teeth removed -wisdom and molar and they ensured the process was quick and not painful. Just a lot of pressure. Not to mention that it was reasonable!!!!

Do not even waste your time. Terrible customer service. Everytime I call they always have attitudes. Will have you on the phone waiting for an hour or so. I had to hang up after and hour and call back just to speak to the same person who placed me on hold.

Also, when scheduling, I gave them who I wanted to see for my fillings and when I show up to my appointment, it’s someone else and not who I requested. They never tell me on my switch up dentists or nothing . Had to go back to get a refill fixed and having the same issue again with the new filling they just did. Please if you can just go somewhere else or to another location.

Dental service isn’t too bad. The receptionists are pretty neglectful though. I have been waiting for about 5 months in total for an extraction. The first couple of months were full of delays due to the protocol which is completely understandable but after waiting the first month, I had to wait another month because the appointment slots filled up apparently. If you need assistance you better call at 7:30, or else… waited another month and was finally told about the emergency service days they provide, Tuesdays and Thursdays, and was able to be seen for a abbreviated appointment, thankfully.

Unfortunately, I still was not able to get the tooth extracted. Now 5 months later, I’m calling back as I was told only to find out I would need to call back in another month to actually have the operation performed. My recommendation for anyone needing there service, don’t! But if you must, you would do better researching and learning dentistry yourself.

I went to CC Broad Ave for 5 months, two cleanings. Intake they did proper x-rays. Hygienist and Dentist seemed attentive to getting my oral health on track. cleaning was OK. You don't know how good they are, but. . . . . //// Second & last cleaning definitely seemed rushed, flossing clearly not proper IMHO. Given mouth wash, expected to swish for 1 sec. When I got in chair before cleaning, waited +10 min. I went to restroom. Hygienist was treating another patient in another exam room, with shots, likely to numb before deep cleaning? Point I was not her main focus. She was in a hurry to get me out to do the more extensive cleaning on the other patient, is my theory. I was just "maintenance". Still paid $75. //// **** Two months after this cleaning, at new office, new hygienist, did more evaluation, found plenty of cleaning to do, polishing and took at least an hour (+) not 15-20 min. **** //// One month after last CC Broad visit, with new x-rays at different office, it showed possible cavity. CC Broad did not catch that 4 months ago. I never saw CC Broad dentist for Re-Eval.

I assume they would take more x-rays and catch this??? //// Cost $75 at CC Broad is bottom end of what you expect to pay in Memphis for cleanings, typical would be $125 min or more at private practice. I'm sure x-rays would be more at Pvt practice. CC Broad does free "pro bono" work for poor & immigrants I think? Which is great. I support their efforts. //// CC Broad answering Phone, as others said, hard to get a hold office directly, but call center or leaving a message is what you should expect. //// Reception and Staff (as mentioned above) - I never felt they were rude. //// Location (right off Sam Cooper), parking good, and they have security outside. //// Music, keep in mind they are *Christ* Community. On my first visit the hygienist (different than last one) asked if we could pray, LOVE that! Christ is in their name. However they do blast gospel. I like it but near the music source (portable blaster) kind of loud. Far end of the hall OK. Like Gospel but volume was high. If it makes staff happy I am good. //// They have more rooms than staff like Walmart has checkouts. //// To get an appointment can be long. For me to get onboarded, I had to wait a month+, make an appointment, another month+ to get in. To be fair getting into Pvt dentist practices can be hard to impossible. //// CC Broad, cleanings and periodical dentist Eval are scheduled separately. This is a separate trip into CC Broad office. To schedule you have to wait a month or more to call, on a spacific date, as they only take dentist appointments a month out.

Then you make the appointment, wait another month plus. Typically at other offices they let you make appointments right away, not call back. //// Bottom line, due to last cleaning being rushed I will stop going. //// EXAMPLE: Friend went to a dentist office of many years, part of University she works for (different state). Due to covid her normal dentist office was closed, so she went to another Dentist. She had a MOUTH FULL of real issues the other office missed. Not saying CC Broad Dental is not competent or missing things. I just wanted more personal comprehensive cleanings. No dental office, dentist, hygienist is perfect. It is up to YOU to do good home care, be your own advocate. Yes, consider CC Broad. Just be aware you get basic service, save some money. If you have serious issues needing surgical procedures, CC Broad can not and will NOT do these procedures. Better off going to an office that does these services from the get go. It will be $$$$. //// Take care of yourself and be YOUR OWN health advocate. Health Care providers make honest mistakes time to time. You can make a home at CC Broad. I hope the best for CC Broad and think they provide a needed service to people of Memphis.
