Carl Sandburg College Dental Hygiene Clinic is a hidden gem for affordable, thorough care. As a retiree on a budget, their low-cost cleanings are a lifesaver—about half what I used to pay. The student hygienists are supervised closely by experienced dentists, so I never felt like a "practice subject. " My last visit took a bit longer than a typical office (they’re meticulous with notes), but the deep cleaning was fantastic—my gums haven’t felt this healthy in years.
The clinic is basic but clean, and the staff is eager to explain every step. They offer limited services (no major procedures), but for checkups and cleanings, it’s unbeatable. Just be ready to schedule a few weeks ahead—they’re popular for good reason.
