My daughter loves visiting Bird Pediatric Dentistry. This past visit we got the chance to meet with Dr. Yang. He and his team were wonderful with my daughter. They put her at ease and made her feel comfortable throughout the entire visit. We have been using Dr. Bird for 5 years a now and I would happily recommend this practice to others.

Went here as a teen/child and didn’t have a great experience. My last visit there was due to not being able to floss between 4 of my teeth. I was able to floss with ease between these teeth until I received cavity fillings on them and immediately after my procedure floss would no longer fit between the teeth. When I brought this up staff shrugged and acted confused before dismissing me. After reading reviews I also feel concern regarding the validity of my “cavities”. During my time at bird I was treated for over 20 cavities despite regular flossing and brushing.

None of it made any sense to me, I couldn’t figure out why I kept getting cavities if I was doing everything right. Ultimately staff accused me of lying and scolded me despite my own mother backing me up on my hygiene practices. I might add that I never experienced any tooth pain or symptoms of cavities either. Suspicious.

My family has been coming to Dr. Bird for 10 years and we have always had excellent care! We also love Bird Orthodontics and have 2/3 kids in braces right now. I have always felt that Dr. Bird treats each patient like her own, is patient with their care and concerns and makes the birdhouse feel like home!

I paid out of pocket for my daughter’s urgent dental care because we didn’t yet have Medicaid at that time. I told the clinic we couldn’t afford multiple services and asked for only the emergency treatment — the tooth extraction. But Dr. Athena pushed for unnecessary cleanings and x-rays for entire mouth , knowing I’d have to cover the cost. It felt like money mattered more for her.

Two month later, my daughter was approved for Medicaid — including retroactive coverage for those visits. I gave the clinic the official approval letter, and after 1 month they confirmed Medicaid had paid them. Yet, months later, they still haven’t returned the money I paid. I’ve asked repeatedly. They keep stalling — always another excuse, another delay.

Now, I have no choice but to file a formal complainte with the NC Medicaid Ombudsman and Department of Health and Human Services. If they still refuse to act, I will go to the Office of the North Carolina Attorney General. A clinic cannot take money from both Medicaid and a struggling parent.
