I was referred to Carolina Center for Advanced Dentistry after my failed attempts to use CPAP and BIPAP treatments for my diagnosed sleep apnea. I had previously tried a mouthpiece appliance through my regular dentist a few years ago but found it to be uncomfortable and ineffective. The staff at the Advanced Sleep and TMJ Center at this practice is specifically trained for sleep apnea treatments, and I am now hopeful that this will be the solution to successfully treat my apnea condition. The doctor and the technicians were very knowledgeable and thorough when assessing and developing a treatment plan for my condition.

They are professional, friendly, and caring. I am fortunate to have found this group – sleep apnea is a condition that does not need to be ignored so I highly recommend this center as a place for possible treatment options.

Dr. Horowitz, Ashley and Heather probably saved my life, certainly made it better! My story starts with waking up one morning at 4:00 am with my heart racing around 145 bpm. Long story made short, AFIB diagnosis in the hospital (treated successfully with Cardioversion), cause determined to be Sleep APNEA, tried CPAP treatment for 1 year (like many just could not get used to sleeping with it, believe me I tried). It should be noted that my CPAP device was recalled during the first 8 months and as a result I was instructed to stop therapy.

Three days later I was back in the hospital with my 2nd AFIB event (treated with medication this time). A short time later I visited the “Advanced Sleep & TMJ Centers” in Murrells Inlet, SC. I was tested, measured, and received a Herbst Advance oral appliance manufactured by SomnoMed. Just had my 1 year follow up visit and I am happy to report there have been no more AFIB events, I am sleeping much better, my nightly oxygen readings (as recorded by my Wellue O2Ring) do not go below 90% and I generally feel better and am “back to my old self”.
